Hey guys. For a while now I've been thinking of ways to organize the ranks and divisions in the guild. There won't be any changes to how things are run currently (aside from an idea on the Advisor rank), just a couple of things that could organize the guild menu a bit.
With the addition to the Main Character and Legacy Name lists on the guild menu, we can clear the Officer Note of tracking who's who in the guild. The only thing we would have to remember to do is update a new person's main character instead of typing in whose character the alt belongs to.
While I'm talking about Officer Note, I'd like to talk about the Member Note too and my thoughts on the Divisions/Ranks.
My idea is to move the Divisions into Member Note or Officer Note and leave the guild ranks for actual ranks. This could help in the future for possible confusion between members if they happen to think one division is higher ranked than another. As we switch the Divisions to one of the Notes, we add a new rank that shows that member is part of a division. I was thinking of Watchman, but couldn't think of another fitting name that sounded class neutral. We could also move Warden from Member Note to the ranks section as their usual officer status in the guild. We could do the same for Advisors, however I haven't seen much use for them lately, though I have another idea for them I'll touch up later.
Of course putting the Divisions in Member/Officer Note would mean we would have to fix it so only officers or councilors would be the only one to alter them to keep members from messing with them.
Another upside to moving the Divisions to one of the Notes is that it gives room to grow in the future. Say more people join the guild and someone has a good idea for a new division. If the divisions were in Guild Ranks, there would only be a limited number of Divisions to make. In the Notes however, there's no limit.
Here's where the new role of the Advisor can come into play. Say we end up making a new Division that's based on Imperial/Internal Affairs, but we don't have anyone set up to become a councilor. We could appoint an Advisor to a division that closely represents the new division, in this example Task Force Zero or Phantom Ring, and choose a Warden that's shown they can uphold the guild's rules to council standards and appoint them to the Advisor rank. They would be given time to set up the ideas for the new division and we see how it goes. If the new division works out well, we keep it and welcome a new council member. If it doesn't work out well, the Advisor returns to being a Warden in their original Division.
So a quick recap of how the ranks could go with the idea
Aspirant: New recruit, RP once to rank up to Initiate.
Initiate: Introduced member, has to RP a bit more and choose a division.
Watchman (Division Member Rank): Full fledged member, part of a division.
Warden: Officer member, officer in their respective division, has the capability to invite other people to the guild.
Advisor (Should we decide to keep it): Member that's a step below councilor, in charge of a Test Division, would be able to invite other people to the guild.
That's about all there is to the ideas I have. I'd love to hear what you all think about it, councilors and regular members alike, either from a comment on this thread or just see me in the game. Any and all feedback will be helpful!
EDIT: I did not think over the new Advisor role as well as I thought I did.
