STAR WAR LEGENDS
PART ONE: THE END OF IT ALL.
Dromund Kaas the once proud capital of a once great empire. For some it represented the Empire’s strength to others, order in a galaxy of chaos. Now it stands as a grave, twenty years had done it good though. Jungle and beasts took back lost territory, good on them. Now before you think I’m some sort of traitor hear me out, in fact how about I start over.
Names Kelshan, Kelshan Zadane, former sith lord, agent, pirate, bounty hunter, the list goes on. Anyway, if you’re seeing this holo message then you’ve found our old hideout, nice work by the way. The building you’re standing in used to be an old stronghold, we called ourselves Dark Watch back then, we were quite the group. You know future of the empire and all that, never really believed it but they were good people.
Anyway, I put this little message together for any would be explorers or lost members to make sense of what happened here, a timeline of sorts. Whether or not this is useful is for you to determine. If you’re ready, strap in kids gonna be a long ride.
Chapter one: Blackout
20 years earlier.
Abrion Sector.
Rishi, Razorback Island.
“Targets left!”
“Low right!”
Marcus lined up another target through his sniper rifle quickly dropping the charging Revanite, “Shifting left, Oriax cover me. Spook try the fleet again, we need air cover or we aren’t getting out of here.”
Spook nodded and tried on her holo again as Marcus repositioned himself higher up the slope. He slammed a fresh energy cell into his rifle and fired at the swarming Revanites at the bottom of the slope.
“Wasn’t this area supposed to be clear already?”Oriax asked as she fell back up the hill firing as she moved. The Revanites slowly advanced up the hill shouting fanatical chants as they moved. “Spook shift right, you’re blocking my shot!”
Spook barely had time to turn around as a saber wielding Revanite was about to end her life when suddenly his head snapped backward in an unnatural manner. All she heard was the reverberating sound of a sniper rifle firing.
“He’s down. Oriax cover fire, we’re going up, over and down this hill after I pop smoke!” Marcus fired off two more rounds each finding a target. He reached for a smoke grenade on his belt and heaved it as far as he could, “Smoke out! Spook pull back.”
Spook quickly rose from her position and began the tiring sprint up the hill. Marcus waited until Spook ran past him then ordered Oriax to do the same. He lined up one final shot on a Revanite and fired, killing him instantly before vanishing on the other side of the hill.
(Scene Break)
Night fell and the Imperial Recon team were laying low in a cave. Their situation was bad Revanite patrols on the island had increased and Marcus doubted they could outrun them much longer. His doubt came sooner than later when an explosion rocked the cave wall, knocking them off balance. They quickly grabbed their weapons and rushed to the cave entrance to make their last stand.
Marcus, Oriax and Spook laid prone side by side watching the Revanites in the small valley below ascending to their position with a hovertank covering their rear on the adjacent ridge. “Hold fire wait till they’re close. We can take these guys, kill shots.”
“What about the tank?” Oriax asked as she adjusted her scope.
“A minor nuisance marine, Spook activate the shield generator on my shot.” Marcus adjusted his scope, his breathing slowed as he set his crosshairs on the lead Revanite. He held his breath and fired, the Revanite’s head atomizing before his body hit the ground.
That was it, the other Revanites opened fire, pistols, rifles, rockets, everything they had but all for naught. Everything simply hit and faltered before the now activated shield. Marcus and his team returned fire, controlled single shots with each one finding a target. They were feeling good about their chances until the tank fired its main gun and the shield flickered.
“I’m running low on energy cells!”
Marcus tossed a fresh cell at Spook, “Last cell, make it count!”
The tank fired again and this time the shield gave away. Rock and dust kicked up around the team leaving them dazed and confused. Marcus’s vision blurred, he slowly crawled his way up to his rifle but before he could reach it an armored boot stepped harshly on his hand. Marcus looked up at his would be killer, the Revanite stared down at Marcus raising his saber over his head to deliver the final blow but he just stood there unmoving. Not second later the Revanite’s body trembled and convulsed, Marcus swore he saw blood leaking from his mask. The Revanite dropped dead with a syringe stuck in his neck and Spook standing behind him.
“I don’t say this very often but I’m glad to see you Spook.” Marcus slowly got to his feet and took his rifle from her.
“We’re not saved yet captain. This is still a last stand.”
“If you’re both done patting each other on the back there’s still a fight back here. “Oriax yelled from a seated position against the cave wall still firing at the Revanites.
Time slowed for the group as the hover tank moved its turret in their direction, they directed their fire at the tank, none of them prepared to die without at least scratching the thing. They weren’t sure when why the tank hadn’t fired yet, they were focused on making Revanites have to spend the next few week digging graves. Soon enough they realized the firing had died down, all the Revanites in the area were just staring up at the night sky.
A blue light hovered high in the air, to the untrained eye it would look like any other star but this one grew larger in size, then suddenly it detonated. It expanded into a white ring and spread across the sky and not a second later the shockwave hit. The hovertank lifted higher off the ground and toppled into the valley below exploding. Trees fell and shattered, dusts was thrown high into the air and Marcus and his team were thrown back inside the cave where its entrance collapsed.
(Scene Break)
Marcus groaned and dragged himself up to sit upright against the cave wall. It was pitch black in the cave, Marcus touched a button on his helmet for night vision but nothing happened, he checked his holo again nothing. Beside him Spook and Oriax began to stir awake and soon enough began trying the same checks as Marcus did.
“Anybody up? Comms, night vision, anything?”
“Nothing Captain, all our electronics are fried.” Oriax answered.
They quickly raised their weapons at the cave entrance when movement and shuffling could be heard outside. They all thought the same thing, Revanites.
“Phantom One, this Task Force Zero watcher team eight, we were sent to pull you out then your signal went dead.”
They all relaxed when they identified themselves as friendlies, “You have any breaching charges? We’re trapped back here.”
“Roger that, move away from the entrance.”
Marcus and the group moved away from the entrance and moments later the boulders blocking the entrance fell apart with a minor seismic charge. The group exited the cave to find the Task Force team checking the Revanite bodies. The outside was no different from the cave, it was dark, no lights anywhere.
Marcus could barely see but he could make out the Task Force agents. There were six of them all wearing different manners of local clothing. “EMP burst from an unknown source, I can’t verify where it came from until we get back to our safe house on the mainland.” The Task Force lead moved down further up the valley ushering Marcus to follow. They had a view of the mainland from the top, it seemed like the blackout stretched for miles, and even the mainland was without power.
Oriax followed up the hill and took up a spot next to Marcus. She marveled at the sight of the spaceport being slowly lit up by torches, “Whats going on Boss?”
Marcus simply stared out at the mainland as torches lit up all around, “I don’t know.”
