Havoc ran wild throughout the Citadel of Kaas City, the Reborn Watch's headquarters was no exception. Korigad, Adenas, and Mielian stared intently at monitor screens which depicted a fleet of Zakuulan warships orbiting the planet, dropships filling the skies as Imperial ships tried to fend off the invasion force. The invasion started only an hour ago and their ground forces had reached the borders of Kaas City moments ago. Even with their entire fleet, the Empire stood very little chance in this fight.
It had been almost six years since Korigad had returned to her own reality and avenged the Dark Watch. After the final fight was complete, she and the Darkborne siblings had rebuilt the order and became one of the well known sub-factions of the Empire. They primarily dealt with reconnaissance and infiltration, but served the Empire however possible. When the Eternal Empire made themselves known to the galaxy, they fought both the Republic and the Empire into submission. The Reborn Watch tasked itself with aiding a resistance that had begun fighting back against the new faction.
"Dropships incoming!" One of the officers nearby shouted.
Outside the tower, two Zakuul dropship made it through the defenses and landed on the roof. Security monitors show the ships dropping off skytroopers and several knights being led by a paladin. Officers gave orders through the comms to defend the building at all costs. Korigad studied the enemy on the screen for a moment, but was cut short after skytroopers noticed the cameras and destroyed them.
"I'll deal with them." Adenas proclaimed as he stood from his chair.
"No. Whether it's by death or capture, we cannot lose any Imperial leadership to the enemy. You know that." Korigad told Adenas in a strict tone.
"We'll be dead or captured if we just sit here. We have to fight back!" Adenas argued.
"Something's dropping out of hyperspace. Something big." One of the officers informed the three of them.
All eyes in the room were drawn to the monitor viewing the Zakuulan fleet in orbit. The fleet had split apart, leaving an open space between the two halves. In seconds, a larger flagship filled the empty space. Everyone watched in horror as the enormous ship joined the battle.
"No...not here..." Korigad said quietly in shock.
"A solar bomb carrier has entered the planet's orbit! Repeat, a nova bomb carrier has entered the planet's orbit!"
Recently, the Eternal Empire had employed a new kind of weapon to use against planets who defied their rule. On Zakuul, they used sun machine reactors to power their cities, even used them to power their Star Fortresses. The Eternal Empire managed to re-purpose these generators into devastating bombs which could destroy a planet. They had first tested these bombs on planets such as Hoth and Tatooine to make sure they could work on planets with extreme climates. It wasn't long ago they had used one of these bombs on Coruscant. The Republic didn't last much longer than the Empire was right now.
Korigad didn't have to switch monitors or even look outside to know the entire city was in a worse state than it was before. People were most likely rushing to starships, bunkers, anywhere they thought was safe. None of it would matter the moment that carrier dropped its cargo. On the monitors, every Imperial ship capable was starting to target the carrier as the enemy ships moved back. Everything from Imperial Interceptors to Dreadnaughts had begun turning toward the carrier and attacking it with everything they had.
But it wasn't enough. The carrier was built with advanced energy shields and every other Zakuulan ship was shooting back at the Imperial forces. It didn't take long until the last Dreadnaught was destroyed and the Zakuulan ships had cleared the way for the carrier to do its job. Within moments, Dromund Kaas, and the Empire, would burn in a mass of fire.
"We need to evacuate! Get to any ships you can!" someone yelled.
The dozens of people in the command room were seemingly split into two groups; the ones who wanted to find a way to escape, and the ones who knew there wasn't a point in trying. Adenas slammed his fist onto the arm of his chair and Mielian sat with a mournful expression. Korigad stood up and looked at them.
"Come with me." She instructed them. "We may have a chance."
"What do you mean? How the hell are we going to survive this?" Adenas questioned her.
"...You finished it didn't you?" Mielian asked after a brief moment of thought.
"Sort of, I need to program it but we have a chance if we move now, hurry." Korigad answered.
The three of them ran out of the command room and through the corridors, hearing the sounds of blaster fire and the hum of lightsabers as they passed. They arrived in one of the tower's science labs, which seemed mostly empty save for a strange structure toward the end of the room and Gree technology on the walls. Korigad quickly sealed the door after they all got in and activated a terminal nearby the structure.
"Is that a hypergate?" Adenas asked.
"One I managed to recreate. It may be our only chance to live through this." Korigad answered as she continued to enter commands into the terminal.
Mielian activated a nearby monitor and found a screen that showed the carrier's position. It wouldn't take much longer for the solar bomb to drop.
The sound of metal being struck caught them all off guard and they all turn to the entrance to see the door had been forced open. Skytroopers and knights moved into the room and Adenas moved to attack.
"We'll cover you, get this gate working." Mielian told Korigad as she activated her own lightsaber and rushed to aid Adenas.
Korigad continued to program the coordinates into the hypergate as the fighting went on behind her. Adenas and Mielian were more than a match against the enemy and slaughtered anyone in their way. An alarm sounded and Korigad looked at the monitor nearby. The carrier had begun opening the hatch to release the bomb. The siblings had finished the last knight and began to walk back toward Korigad, but were stopped short at the sound of a hum of a blade.
At the entrance, the paladin had stood with his force pike activated and shield raised. The two of them began to fight him and seemed to overpower him. The paladin then knocked Mielian away long enough to plunge his weapon into Adenas' chest, killing him. A loud sound was heard shortly afterward. The bomb had just hit the planet. It wouldn't be long until the blast reached their location. Mielian rose to her feet and pulled her brother's lightsaber to her hand. She charged at the paladin, fueled with rage.
Korigad finished making the link between her reality and the last one she had visited and activated the hypergate. She hadn't set up a proper destination, but due to the shortage of time at the moment, the first planet that came up was good enough. She rose to see Mielian cross blades with the Zakuul paladin and rushed to help her. She then noticed the room heating up at an alarming rate and knew they had ran out of time.
Mielian looked back at Korigad with a sorrowful expression. She gathered the strength needed to push the paladin a long enough distance away and turned toward Korigad. Mielian then channeled the Force into Korigad's direction and knocked her toward the hypergate.
Korigad watched as she was pushed backward at incredible speed. In an instant, the walls broke apart and the entire room had been completely engulfed in fire. Mielian, the paladin, and the bodies of Adenas, knights and skytroopers had all been completely incinerated. She then saw reality warp around her as she entered the hypergate just before the flames blast could reach her. Her consciousness began to diminish as she was moved through the inside of the gate.
After some time, Korigad awoke and found herself in a strange looking city. She wandered around for a bit, trying to figure out where she was. She knew she had made it to the other reality, but couldn't understand what planet she had been sent to. After several minutes of walking around, a bright light in the distance caught her eye. When she saw the source of the light, she fell to her knees. It was a sun machine reactor, the very same the Eternal Empire used. In that instant she knew exactly where she was.
Zakuul.
