Xivar sat alone in the main room of the Dark Watch's stronghold, staring at the necklace he's had for as long as he could remember. The necklace consisted of a platinum chain and a dark blue gem that had a dark core. He couldn't recall how he got it or who could have given it to him, but he's always had it, even at the Korriban Academy. One of the other acolytes tried to take it from him and Xivar had trapped him in the tombs with a pack of tukata after crippling one of his legs. He was only ten and it was the cruelest thing he had done back then. He was usually quick, quiet, and calculated during his training. Something about the necklace being taken triggered him back then.
"You sit alone staring at useless trinkets." Exodus' voice chimed in. "The false empire is still in control of the galaxy, that cannot stand while our Empire still exists."
"It's not like I can take on the forces of Zakuul on my own. You want the impossible, Exodus." Xivar responded, not even attempting to try to locate where the voice was coming from.
"He wants to relive the feeling of battle, war." Genesis chimed in.
"Which you won't find with this lot. Of all the orders in the Empire, you somehow managed to find one that works in the shadows, led by a Pureblood who acts like a Jedi no less. This only fuels my anger that I can't channel. Useless." Exodus complains.
"I have to agree with him. Sith like her never lasted long in our time. But more to the point, you should have continued your Sith training on Nar Shaddaa rather than become a petty mercenary." Genesis spoke.
Xivar said nothing. He had this conversation with the two spirits a couple of times before, all ending the same. He became a mercenary because he was tired of listening to Sith philosophy and the promises of power despite having Korriban attacked by a stronger group. The casual acts of murder and mayhem also looked less appealing after he had left as well.
"I don't mind the help you give me, even if you two only do it to keep yourselves from disappearing or whatever. I won't mind if you somehow train me to use a blade better or if you can teach me how to conjure lightning. But I'm done with the Sith. Don't like it? Tough. Leave me be if you hate it so much." Xivar proclaimed to the empty room.
Exodus groaned while Genesis remained silent. Xivar thought to himself for a moment, his mind thinking back to the necklace.
"Alright, how about a deal?" Xivar asked as he took off the necklace and held it out in front of him, letting the crystal hang from below his hand "If one of you can tell me anything about this, or my past for that matter, I'll return to the Sith Order."
Silence filled the room. Xivar could only assume the spirits were examining the necklace since he couldn't see them. If he was more attuned to the Force he probably could, but for now he could only hear them.
"It's just a useless necklace." Exodus stated. Xivar guessed he wouldn't know anything about it or wouldn't tell him.
Genesis remained quiet for a moment, Xivar couldn't tell if he was present anymore.
"Genesis?" he asked.
"I suppose it looks like a lightsaber crystal. I can't sense much energy from it, so it's hard to tell." the ghost finally answered.
"Any idea where it's from?"
"No. Seems like a regular crystal from what I can tell. Nothing unique about the chain either." Genesis answered almost dismissively.
Xivar examined the necklace and crystal one last time before tucking it back under his armor.
"We told you what it is, now go to the citadel and rejoin the order." Exodus commanded.
"That doesn't count. I could have guessed it was a lightsaber crystal. When you have actual information, then I'll go back." Xivar responded as he put his hands behind his head and leaned back in his seat.
"You little bastard, think you're clever." Exodus began to rant "Had I any power over you, I would--"
"Stop me from getting a drink at the Nexus? Because that's not gonna happen. I don't hear you two as much when I've had a couple of drinks."
Xivar got up from his seat and made his way out of the room and turned right. As he reached out to the panel to open the door to the balcony, he sensed a presence behind him and turned around. He could see someone walk down the stairs out of view, but couldn't tell who it was. He was sure he didn't see anyone pass by him as he left he room. Was someone sitting outside of the door listening? Xivar listened for the footsteps to stop before turning to open the door and walking outside.
